A 63-year-old man was hospitalized following a black bear attack in Cairo. The incident occurred on Monday (September 1) when the man was reportedly attacked while walking near his home. The bear inflicted serious injuries, leading to his hospitalization.

The New York Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is investigating the attack and has issued warnings to local residents to remain vigilant. According to the DEC, bear encounters have been increasing in the region, and they advise people to secure garbage and remove bird feeders to avoid attracting bears.

As reported by CBS6 Albany, the bear involved in the attack has not yet been located. Authorities are working to track the animal to prevent further incidents.

Local residents are urged to report any bear sightings to the DEC. The agency emphasizes the importance of not approaching or feeding bears, as this can lead to dangerous encounters.
