The New York State Office of General Services (OGS) is on the lookout for a spruce tree to be displayed in front of the New York State Capitol in Albany during the holiday season. The chosen tree will be placed on the Empire State Plaza, near the skating rink, and will be part of the state's annual tree lighting ceremony in December.

According to OGS Commissioner Jeanette Moy, the tree should be a spruce between 35 and 55 feet tall, easily accessible, and free from power lines. Moy emphasized the significance of this tradition, stating, "This tree will stand as a symbol of joy, peace, and unity throughout the holiday season."

The tree will be removed at no cost to the owner in mid-November. Families interested in donating a tree are encouraged to contact Kevin Ciampi at OGS by emailing Kevin.Ciampi@ogs.ny.gov. They should include their name, the address where the tree is located, a photo of the tree, and a contact phone number.

This annual tradition brings together the community and highlights the spirit of giving and celebration. The tree lighting event at the Empire State Plaza is a cherished occasion, drawing people from across the region to celebrate the holiday season.
