Albany Crash Injures Several; Driver Arrested

A crash in Albany on Wednesday (September 10) resulted in several injuries after a driver allegedly drove the wrong way on South Pearl Street. The driver, identified as 29-year-old Brandon Labelle from Halfmoon, was arrested following the incident. According to authorities, Labelle was driving a sedan that collided with multiple vehicles at the intersection of South Pearl Street and Morton Avenue.

The crash occurred around 9:45 a.m., leaving at least six people injured, including three passengers and a pedestrian. One passenger suffered a broken neck, while others experienced head, back, neck, or wrist pain. All victims were treated at the scene and transported to Albany Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, as reported by the Times Union.

Labelle's vehicle reportedly crossed a double yellow line into oncoming traffic, ran a red light, and struck two vehicles before veering off the road and hitting a pedestrian. The vehicle then crashed into a building. Labelle was found at the scene with drug paraphernalia and required medical attention. He faces multiple charges, including felony aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, second-degree vehicular assault, and driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, according to the Daily Gazette.

Labelle was arraigned and sent to Albany County Jail without bail. He is scheduled to appear in Albany City Court on Monday (September 15).
