Albany police are investigating a stabbing incident involving a 17-year-old male that occurred on Wednesday (September 10) around 4:20 p.m. in the area of First Street and Quail Street. Officers arrived at the scene to find the teenager with stab wounds to his back. Emergency medical personnel treated him on-site before transporting him to Albany Medical Center, where his injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening, according to CBS6 Albany.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Albany Police Detectives Division at 518-462-8039. News10 ABC reported that the police are actively seeking leads to understand the circumstances surrounding the stabbing.
In a separate but related incident, police responded to a fight involving a large group of young people at the basketball courts near Eagle and Warren streets on Tuesday night (September 9). During this altercation, a 17-year-old, who was reportedly acting in self-defense, stabbed another 17-year-old who was attempting to rob him. The alleged robber was charged with multiple counts of robbery and is scheduled for arraignment in family court, as reported by the Times Union.
