Authorities are actively searching for Anthony Bechand, a suspect in a brutal homicide in Cohoes. Bechand, 54, is accused of fatally stabbing his girlfriend, 41-year-old Amanda Rodriguez, at her home on Earl Lynn Court. Her body was discovered on Sunday morning (September 14), and police quickly identified Bechand as the primary suspect.
According to New York State Police, Bechand fled the scene in a white 2024 Chevrolet Silverado, which was later found abandoned in Franklin County, about an hour south of the Canadian border. Bechand is described as a white male, approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing around 180 pounds, with hazel eyes and brown hair. His current whereabouts and clothing are unknown.
A multi-agency search is underway, involving New York State Police, Cohoes Police Department, New York State Forest Rangers, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Authorities warn that Bechand may be armed and dangerous and urge anyone with information to contact the New York State Police at 518-897-2000. An autopsy is being conducted to determine the exact cause of Rodriguez's death, and the investigation remains ongoing.
