The Capitol Hauntings tours at the New York State Capitol in Albany will return on Wednesday (October 1) and run through October 31. These tours offer a unique opportunity to explore the legends, folklore, and tales of ghostly sightings reported at the historic Capitol building. Each tour lasts one hour and is free of charge, though reservations are required.

Visitors will journey through the Capitol, stopping at notable spots like the location where a night watchman died in a fire and the area near the Great Western Staircase, associated with the legend of the "Secret Demon." The tours also delve into the stories of two U.S. Presidents who visited the Capitol posthumously and reveal the mysteries behind the hidden murals in the state Assembly Chamber, created by a tormented artist.

The Capitol building is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., excluding government holidays. Those interested in the haunted tours can register online at empirestateplaza.ny.gov.
