The Albany County Sheriff’s Office has officially welcomed 17 new deputies in a swearing-in ceremony held at the Massry Center for the Arts on Madison Avenue. The new recruits will begin their training at the Sheriff’s Public Safety Training Institute’s Law Enforcement Academy this Friday (September 19), where they will undergo a comprehensive 27-week program. This training will cover various aspects of policing, including investigative techniques and firearms training.

Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple addressed the new recruits, emphasizing the challenges they will face. "Over the next 27 weeks, you will be tested in ways you’ve never imagined," Sheriff Apple said. "It’s about becoming someone your community can trust, respect, and rely on." The recruits are expected to graduate in April next year.

The addition of these new deputies comes as part of an effort to bolster the ranks of the Albany County Sheriff's Office, ensuring the community is well-served and protected. The new deputies will be equipped with the skills necessary to handle the demands of law enforcement in the modern era.
