A Troy man, Kemaury Everett, is set to go on trial for his alleged involvement in a fatal hit-and-run that resulted in the death of 93-year-old Charles Allendorph. The incident occurred on August 18 at the intersection of Congress Street and Newark Street in Cohoes. Everett, 19, is accused of striking Allendorph with his vehicle and then backing over him despite witnesses urging him to stop, according to WNYT.

After the incident, Everett allegedly fled the scene but was later apprehended at his mother's residence in Albany. Police found his unoccupied vehicle, a gray 2024 Hyundai Tucson, near Dove and Elm streets. Everett, who pleaded not guilty, faces multiple charges, including second-degree manslaughter, second-degree assault, and leaving the scene of an incident without reporting, as reported by Times Union.

Allendorph, an avid walker and fisherman, was taken to Albany Medical Center Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Everett, who has a previous criminal record, was remanded without bail following his arraignment. The trial is scheduled to continue on October 8, with Everett's attorney yet to comment on the case, according to CBS 6 Albany.
