State Police will hold a press conference today (September 25) at the Ray Brook Barracks regarding the ongoing search for Anthony Bechand, a suspect in the murder of Amanda Rodriguez in Cohoes. Authorities claim that Bechand, 53, brutally killed 41-year-old Rodriguez at her residence on Earl Lynn Court earlier this month and then fled the area.

The incident began on September 14, when Cohoes Police discovered Rodriguez deceased in her home. Later that day, Bechand's white 2024 Chevrolet Silverado was found abandoned at the intersection of County Routes 60 and 86 in Brighton, Franklin County. Bechand, described as a white male, approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing 180 pounds, with hazel eyes and brown hair, is believed to have fled on foot in an unknown direction.

The search for Bechand involves multiple agencies, including the U.S. Marshals Task Force, New York State Forest Rangers, and local law enforcement. Authorities are conducting structural and grid searches in the heavily wooded areas surrounding the location where Bechand's vehicle was found.

Law enforcement officials urge anyone with information on Bechand's whereabouts to contact the New York State Police at 518-897-2000. They assure the public that those who come forward will not face legal repercussions. As hunting season approaches, officials remind the public to be cautious and report any suspicious activity.

The press conference is expected to provide updates on the investigation and answer questions from the media.
