A woman from Troy has been charged with animal abandonment after allegedly leaving a Pitbull tied to a pole in Watervliet. The Watervliet Police Department responded to a call on Friday (October 24) about an abandoned dog at 1901 Broadway. Officers found the Pitbull without food or water, tied to a pole. According to the police, Tiffany Valentine Day, age 33, left the dog two hours before it was discovered.

The dog was taken to a veterinarian and is reportedly doing well. It will soon be available for adoption. Tiffany Valentine Day received an appearance ticket and was released.

This incident follows another animal abuse case in Troy, where a French bulldog was found malnourished and abandoned in a basement. The suspect in that case, Nigel I. Blakes-Sanni, was charged with multiple offenses, including torturing or injuring animals and abandonment. The French bulldog is now recovering with a foster family.

Both cases highlight ongoing concerns about animal welfare in the region.
