In Rotterdam, a woman was arrested after allegedly threatening Schenectady County Legislator Josh Cuomo on Saturday (October 25). Cuomo, a Republican running for reelection, was canvassing with his children when the incident occurred. According to Cuomo, the woman asked if he supported President Donald Trump. Upon his affirmative response, she threatened to shoot him if he returned to her home on Cardiff Road.

The woman was taken into custody by Rotterdam police and charged with harassment and endangering the welfare of a child. She was later arraigned and released. The charges stem from a statement provided by Cuomo to the police, though it remains unclear if the woman admitted to making the threat.

Cuomo expressed hope that the incident would serve as a wake-up call against political violence. The situation highlights the growing concern over political violence in the United States, as noted by recent incidents involving other public figures. Schenectady County GOP Committee Chairwoman Liz Joy emphasized the importance of safe and respectful voter engagement, expressing gratitude that Cuomo and his family were unharmed.

The Schenectady County Democratic Chairman, Frank Salamone, also condemned the threat, reiterating his stance against political violence. The case underscores the heightened tensions in political canvassing, especially in the lead-up to elections. As the investigation continues, law enforcement aims to ensure accountability for the incident.
