The New York State Department of Transportation (NYS DOT) has issued a travel advisory for Interstate 787 in Albany today (October 29). The advisory states that the ramp from Exit Three on I-787 northbound to U.S. Route 9/20 will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for routine bridge inspection work. Motorists are advised to use the posted detour and should prepare for potential travel delays.
According to NEWS10 ABC, the detour will direct drivers to use U.S. Route 9/20 and Broadway in Rensselaer. The NYS DOT urges drivers to exercise caution and follow the detour signs to ensure a smooth flow of traffic during the closure.
The closure is part of ongoing efforts by the NYS DOT to maintain and inspect infrastructure across the state. The department emphasizes the importance of slowing down and driving responsibly in work zones, as fines are doubled for speeding in these areas. The work is expected to be completed by the end of the day, weather permitting.
