Registration is still open for the Troy Turkey Trot, a beloved Thanksgiving tradition in Troy. Scheduled for Thursday (November 27), this event is the 12th oldest road race in the United States and is expected to attract over 20,000 participants and spectators. The race includes a 10K, a one-mile Turkey Walk, a Grade School Mile, and a 5K run. Participants are encouraged to wear costumes and compete in categories like Most Unique and Best Thanksgiving costumes.

The Troy Turkey Trot supports several local charities, including the Regional Food Bank and Joseph's House and Shelter. With the demand for these services up by over 100% compared to last year, donations are highly encouraged. Runners can register online at the Troy Turkey Trot website.

Virtual participation is also available, allowing runners to join from anywhere. Those who register by November 9 will receive their race packets by Thanksgiving. Late registrants will receive packets after the holiday but can still participate during the running window.

The event has been a staple since its inception in 1916, growing from just six runners to one of the largest turkey trots in the country. It offers a unique opportunity for community members to engage in a healthy activity while supporting local causes.
