Price Chopper/Market 32 is reducing prices on nearly 30 grocery items to support families affected by the suspension of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. The discounts, available through November 8, include essentials like eggs, pasta, avocados, and cereals. This initiative comes as SNAP benefits have been on hold since Saturday (November 1) due to a government shutdown, though the Trump administration has agreed to partially fund them.

According to CNY Central, the supermarket chain aims to provide relief during this challenging time. Blaine Bringhurst, president of Market 32 and Price Chopper, stated, "We’re determined to do our part to help." The stores are also running a "Fill a Plate with Hope for the Holidays" drive, allowing customers to donate pre-packed grocery bags to local food banks.

The discounts are part of a broader effort to address food insecurity, which remains a significant issue in the community. As reported by NEWS10 ABC, Market 32 and Price Chopper are mobilizing resources and partners to ensure families have access to affordable food. This includes initiatives like the Fresh Recovery program, which donates unsold food to those in need.

For customers using Optum Financial and NationsBenefits cards, additional discounts on healthy foods such as milk, eggs, and vegetables are available. The pricing adjustments reflect an analysis of customer purchase data to target high-demand items, as noted by The Daily Gazette.
