An Albany man, Ronald Stewart, 39, is facing serious charges after a traffic stop on Monday (November 10) morning. Police stopped Stewart at Central Avenue and Manning Square just before 10:15 a.m. and discovered a gun with a defaced serial number, 14.5 grams of crack cocaine, a digital scale, and numerous plastic bags in his possession. Stewart is charged with criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a controlled substance, and criminally using drug paraphernalia, along with a traffic violation.
WRGB reports that Stewart was due to be arraigned later on Monday. The charges highlight ongoing efforts by law enforcement to address illegal firearms and drug distribution in the area.
This incident follows another recent arrest in Albany, where deputies discovered drugs and weapons during a traffic stop on Myrtle Avenue. Law enforcement agencies continue to emphasize the importance of proactive policing to curb such activities in the community.
