Rafael Gonzalez, a 34-year-old man from Schenectady is facing multiple charges after allegedly kidnapping a woman at a Motel 6 on Curry Road in Colonie. According to Times Union, Gonzalez held the woman against her will last month, assaulting her multiple times. The incident came to light when the victim's family contacted police after seeing a concerning social media post and losing contact with her.

The Colonie police, assisted by Schenectady police, responded to the motel on October 29. Upon arrival, they found Gonzalez with the victim, who had sustained injuries and required hospital treatment. Spotlight News reported that Gonzalez was in possession of brass knuckles, which he attempted to conceal. He was charged with second-degree kidnapping, second-degree assault, unlawful imprisonment, and other related charges.

Gonzalez, who was on parole after serving time for a 2016 attempted murder charge, was arrested without incident and is currently held in Albany County Jail without bail. CBS 6 Albany noted that Gonzalez might face additional charges after a search of his vehicle uncovered a firearm. The victim is expected to make a full recovery.
