After a brief period of decline, gas prices are rising again in the Capital Region. According to AAA, the average cost for a gallon of regular fuel has increased to $3.12, up three cents from last week and two cents higher than a month ago. The state average currently stands at $3.13, while the national average is $3.07.

The recent increase in gas prices comes after a period of relative stability. As reported by the AAA Newsroom, the national average for a gallon of regular gasoline remained unchanged at $3.08 earlier this month. This stability was attributed to an abundance of crude oil, which kept prices steady as the Thanksgiving travel period approached.

However, fluctuations in gas prices are not uncommon. The Capital Region recently experienced a slight decrease in gas prices, providing temporary relief to drivers. The average price for a gallon of regular fuel in the region had dropped to $3.07, reflecting a decrease of one cent from the previous week.

As the holiday season approaches, drivers may continue to see variations in prices at the pump. For more detailed information on gas prices in specific counties or metro areas, AAA provides daily updates on their website.
