A jury in Schenectady County found Steven Carrion guilty of crashing his Mercedes into an AT&T store in Niskayuna on September 25, 2022. The 33-year-old Troy resident was convicted on eight charges, including burglary, reckless endangerment, and criminal mischief, according to the Schenectady County District Attorney's Office.

Carrion drove into the store at Mohawk Commons after receiving a stay-away order against his ex-girlfriend, who worked there. He then used a baseball bat to destroy store inventory while shouting "daddy's home" in search of her. The incident was captured on store security footage. No injuries were reported.

Police arrested Carrion as he exited the store. A search of his vehicle revealed a kerosene can and three shotgun shells. Further investigation at his apartment uncovered kerosene spread throughout, with a stove burner on and a fan blowing. The stay-away order was found doused in kerosene with a charred edge. Carrion's DNA was confirmed on the baseball bat used in the incident.

Carrion's defense argued that madness and mayhem drove his actions, but the jury rejected this claim. He faces a minimum of 15 years in prison and is scheduled for sentencing on January 27, 2026, as reported by WNYT.
