A section of Interstate 88 in Schoharie has reopened after a crash involving two tractor-trailers caused significant disruption on Wednesday (November 19). The accident occurred near Exit 23, leading to the closure of two eastbound lanes for several hours. According to the Schoharie County Sheriff's Department, two individuals were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
The crash, which happened around 11:58 a.m., resulted in a large spill from one of the trailers, identified as a non-toxic material used to dye leather. The Central Bridge Fire Department was involved in managing the scene. As reported by NEWS10 ABC, the cause of the accident remains under investigation.
Traffic has now resumed on the highway, easing the morning commute for drivers in the area. The incident highlights the importance of road safety and the potential hazards associated with transporting materials.
