A woman was rescued after accidentally driving her vehicle into a pond at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs on Sunday afternoon (November 23). According to the Saratoga Springs Fire Department, the incident occurred around 1:45 p.m. near the Williamson Sports Complex. Firefighters arrived to find the vehicle almost fully submerged in Haupt Pond.
The driver, who was visiting the campus, reportedly mistook a path for a roadway, leading to the accident. Fire crews, wearing cold-water suits due to the frigid temperatures, managed to break the back windows of the car and pull the woman to safety using a harness. She was treated on the scene for possible hypothermia and then transported to Saratoga Hospital for further evaluation, as reported by WNYT.
The college confirmed the mishap and stated that the driver was moved to the shore before being taken to the hospital. Firefighters also assisted a towing company in removing the vehicle from the pond, as noted by NEWS10 ABC. The cause of the incident remains under investigation, and further details are awaited.
