State Police are actively seeking witnesses to a fatal accident that occurred on the Northway near Clifton Park on Sunday (November 23). The tragic incident involved a series of collisions starting with a rear-end crash between two vehicles in the southbound lanes just south of Exit 11. The impact caused one vehicle to veer off the road and hit a guardrail, after which it was struck by a third car.
The driver of the initially struck vehicle exited his car and was subsequently hit by a passing tractor-trailer. The collision propelled him into the roadway, where he was struck again by another vehicle. Unfortunately, the driver died at the scene, and his identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
State Police confirmed that the tractor-trailer involved in the hit-and-run left the scene and has not been located. Authorities are urging anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage to contact them at Troop G headquarters in Latham by calling 518-783-3211.
Investigators continue to search for the tractor-trailer and are appealing to the public for assistance in identifying the vehicle and driver involved. The investigation remains ongoing as police work to gather more information about the incident.
