An investigation is ongoing after a domestic violence incident led to an officer-involved shooting in Troy on Saturday night (November 29). Police responded to a call around 9:43 p.m. from a woman on Ferry Street who reported being chased by her ex-boyfriend, Michael Rodriguez. She alleged that Rodriguez, 41, threatened her with a handgun.

According to CBS6, officers located Rodriguez near 6th Avenue and Ferry Street. As they approached, Rodriguez allegedly opened fire without provocation. The officers returned fire, injuring Rodriguez, who then fled through a parking lot before collapsing and dropping his weapon. Police also discovered illegal drugs at the scene.

Neither the woman nor the officers were physically harmed. The officers were taken to a hospital for evaluation. Rodriguez, a parolee under the supervision of the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, is currently hospitalized and in police custody. He will face charges related to the incident.

The Troy Police Department, assisted by the New York State Police, is conducting a thorough investigation. Mayor Carmella Mantello expressed relief that no officers or community members were harmed, emphasizing the unpredictable nature of police work. Chief of Police Daniel P. DeWolf praised the officers' response and assured continued support for those involved.
