The New York State Department of Health has announced that the flu is now prevalent across the Capital Region. Despite the flu season starting only a few weeks ago, there have already been 17,000 positive flu cases reported across all 62 counties in New York. Saratoga County reported the highest number of cases with 78, followed by Albany County with 35, and Schenectady County with 29 during the week ending November 22.
Health officials recommend that residents get their flu shots to protect themselves and others. A list of clinics offering flu vaccinations is available at vaccines.gov. The flu can be particularly dangerous for young children, the elderly, and those with compromised immune systems, making vaccination a crucial step in preventing the spread of the virus.
As the flu season progresses, residents are encouraged to stay informed about local health updates and take preventive measures to reduce the risk of infection.
