A malfunctioning chimney is being blamed for a fire that broke out in a residence on Knight Road in Delanson, Schenectady County. Firefighters were dispatched to the scene around 1:35 p.m. on Christmas Day (December 25) and arrived within 12 minutes to find a small fire burning within the walls of the home.
According to CBS6 Albany, the quick response by the Delanson fire crews helped to swiftly extinguish the fire, preventing further damage. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the home was saved from significant harm.
Authorities have attributed the fire to a malfunctioning chimney, highlighting the importance of regular maintenance. Homeowners are advised to ensure their chimneys are clear of debris and functioning properly before using their fireplaces to prevent similar incidents.
