Albany Welcomes First Mayor of Color, Dr. Dorcey Applyrs

Albany marked a historic moment as Dr. Dorcey Applyrs was sworn in as the city's seventy-sixth mayor on Thursday (January 1). Dr. Applyrs is the first person of color to hold the position, representing a significant milestone for the city. Dr. Applyrs, who previously served as the chief city auditor, takes over from Kathy Sheehan, who completed her term.
