A Valvoline Instant Oil Change employee in Halfmoon is recovering after a serious crash on Saturday (January 9). The incident occurred at the Valvoline location on Route 9 when a 63-year-old man waiting for service suddenly accelerated, trapping the worker between two cars. The Saratoga County Sheriff's Office reported that the crash happened at 11:52 a.m.
The employee, a 50-year-old male, was transported to Albany Medical Center by Clifton Park-Halfmoon EMS. He is currently in serious but stable condition, suffering from leg fractures and possible internal injuries. The crash also caused significant damage to the Valvoline building, forcing its closure until further notice.
The Sheriff's Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating the cause of the accident. As of now, no charges have been filed against the driver. The investigation aims to determine the factors that led to the rapid acceleration and subsequent crash.
