Pedestrian Killed in Colonie Crash Identified

Colonie Police have identified the pedestrian who was fatally struck by a car on Central Avenue as 77-year-old Cornelius Morrison from Albany. The tragic incident occurred on Wednesday night (January 13) near 1157 Central Avenue, shortly after 5:30 p.m. The Colonie Police Department is actively investigating the cause of the crash, though they have confirmed that the driver involved is fully cooperating with authorities.

Officials have stated that the driver was not impaired at the time of the accident, and no charges have been filed or are expected. Following the crash, Central Avenue was closed between Osborne Road and Kraft Avenue for several hours, reopening around 8:30 p.m.

The investigation remains ongoing as police work to determine the circumstances leading to the accident.
