Kemaury Everett, a 19-year-old from Troy, is set to be sentenced on Monday (January 16) after pleading guilty to second-degree manslaughter in a hit-and-run incident that resulted in the death of 93-year-old Charles Allendorph. The tragic event occurred on August 18 at the intersection of Congress and Newark streets in Cohoes. Everett struck Allendorph with his vehicle and then backed over him as witnesses urged him to stop, according to WNYT.

After fleeing the scene, Everett abandoned his vehicle near Dove and Elm streets. He was later found at his home and arrested. In addition to the manslaughter charge, Everett faced charges of second-degree assault and leaving the scene without reporting. His plea agreement satisfies these charges, along with a pending drug charge from another case.

The Albany County District Attorney's Office stated that Everett could face a prison sentence ranging from five to 15 years. The Times Union reported that Everett's attorney has not commented on the case. The incident has deeply affected the community, as Allendorph was known as an avid walker and active member of his local churches.

Everett's sentencing will bring closure to a case that has resonated with many in the area, highlighting the tragic consequences of reckless driving and the importance of accountability.
