Loudonville Elementary School will remain closed on Friday (January 30) as crews continue to battle an ongoing water main break that has left the school without water service.

The North Colonie School District announced the closure early Friday morning after determining the building couldn't safely accommodate students or staff. "Unfortunately, town crews have been unable to repair the break and are continuing to work to do so," the district stated in a notice to families. "The school is still without water, so we cannot safely have students or staff in the building today."

This closure follows Thursday's early dismissal, when students were released around 12:15 p.m. after the water main break was first detected. Normal dismissal procedures were followed for walkers, student pickups, and bus riders during Thursday's early release.

The water disruption has also affected after-school programming. The CYC (Catholic Youth Center) program at Loudonville Elementary was canceled on Thursday, according to North Colonie Communications.

Local repair crews have been working on the water main since Thursday morning but have encountered difficulties resolving the issue. The district has not yet announced when they expect the school to reopen, though updates are expected as repairs progress.

Parents and staff are advised to monitor district communications for further updates regarding Monday's school status.
