Arrest Made After Bomb Threat at Albany Credit Union

Albany police have arrested a suspect following a bomb threat at the Broadview Federal Credit Union on State Street in Albany. The incident occurred on Tuesday (February 3) at approximately 4:20 p.m.

According to CBS 6 Albany, both Albany Police officers and New York State Police responded to the scene. After a thorough investigation, authorities determined there was no actual explosive device present and that the report was only a threat.

The area surrounding the credit union was temporarily secured while law enforcement conducted their assessment. Officials later cleared the location and deemed it safe for the public.

As of Tuesday evening, police have not released the identity of the person arrested or specified what charges they may face in connection with the false threat. The investigation appears to be ongoing.

False bomb threats are typically treated as serious criminal offenses that can result in significant legal penalties, including potential federal charges depending on the circumstances.
