An inmate at the Saratoga County Jail is facing additional charges after allegedly assaulting three corrections officers in December, adding to a concerning pattern of violence within the facility.
Jamier Walker, 29, was arrested on Tuesday, February 2, in connection with an incident that occurred on December 23, 2025. According to authorities, Walker allegedly struck three officers in the face while being transferred to another area of the jail after reportedly assaulting another inmate, as reported by CBS6 Albany.
Two of the officers required medical treatment for their injuries, while a third officer did not need treatment. Following the incident, Walker was returned to custody at the Saratoga County Jail where he awaits further legal proceedings.
This incident comes amid heightened scrutiny of correctional facilities across New York State. In a separate case that has drawn significant attention, several corrections officers were recently charged in connection with the death of an inmate at Marcy Correctional Facility in December 2024. That case has resulted in multiple guilty pleas and one murder conviction, raising concerns about oversight and conduct within the state's prison system.
The Saratoga County Jail has seen other recent incidents of violence against staff. In a separate case last week, 45-year-old Billy Cassell from Hudson Falls was arrested for allegedly striking a corrections officer in the face, according to news reports. That officer was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a local urgent care facility.
Authorities have not released information about what additional charges Walker may face or when his next court appearance is scheduled.
