Schenectady County Public Health Services is offering a free naloxone training event today at the Niskayuna Branch Library on Nott Street in Niskayuna. The session will run from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. and aims to educate attendees on recognizing the signs of a possible drug overdose and administering naloxone, a life-saving medication.

Participants will receive free naloxone kits and testing strips for fentanyl and xylazine, which are often involved in opioid overdoses. The training is part of a broader initiative by Schenectady County to equip the community with the knowledge and tools needed to combat the opioid crisis.

The event is open to all community members, and no prior registration is required. For more information, attendees can contact Schenectady County Public Health Services at (518) 386-2067.

For those interested in attending future sessions, Schenectady County Public Health Services hosts similar training events at various public libraries across the county. More details can be found on the Schenectady County Library website.
