A 24-year-old Mechanicville man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred in Albany nearly four months ago.
Youseph Mejias was taken into custody on Tuesday (February 10) and charged with second-degree attempted murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon for a shooting that took place on October 12, 2025, according to NEWS10.
The incident occurred on Washington Avenue near Lexington Avenue in Albany. When police responded to reports of gunfire in the area, they found evidence of a shooting but no victim at the scene. Shortly afterward, authorities learned that a 24-year-old man had arrived at Albany Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound to his arm.
After nearly four months of investigation, police identified Mejias as a suspect. Law enforcement executed a search warrant at his Mechanicville residence on Wednesday morning (February 11), which led to his arrest.
CBS6 Albany reports that following his arraignment in Albany City Criminal Court, Mejias was sent to Albany County Jail without bail.
The case highlights the ongoing work of Albany Police in resolving violent crime cases, even months after they occur. Police had previously sought the public's help in their investigation of the October shooting.
