A Saratoga Springs businessman has officially thrown his hat into the political ring, announcing his candidacy for New York State Assembly. Republican Allen Caruso has launched his campaign for the 113th Assembly District seat, currently held by Democratic incumbent Carrie Woerner.

Caruso, a small business owner, announced his campaign platform on Monday (February 16), focusing on three key issues: restoring affordability, supporting small businesses and job growth, and strengthening public safety and community services.

"No one is entitled to public office," Caruso stated in his announcement. "This race is about direction, affordability, and opportunity for the people of District 113. I look forward to earning the trust of voters and running a campaign focused on the issues that matter most."

The 113th Assembly District encompasses portions of Saratoga and Washington counties. Woerner, who has represented the district since first winning election in 2014, will likely face Caruso in the November general election.

Caruso plans to officially kick off his campaign with an event at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday (February 18) at Panza's Restaurant on South Broadway in Saratoga Springs.

The announcement comes as New York prepares for its 2026 state legislative elections, where all Assembly seats will be contested.
