SUNY Schenectady received two bomb threats on Thursday (February 19) evening, prompting a swift response from law enforcement and the evacuation of the campus. The threats were made by phone just after 7 p.m., as reported by the Schenectady County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies. Campus personnel immediately notified Campus Safety, leading to the evacuation of all individuals on campus.

Shortly after the first call, an identical threat was received three minutes later. In response, New York State Police, Schenectady City Police, and Schenectady County Sheriff’s deputies conducted a thorough investigation of the campus, including the use of bomb-sniffing K9 units. By 8:40 p.m., the campus was cleared, and no further threats or safety risks were identified, according to NEWS10.

SUNY Schenectady President Dr. Steady Moono confirmed that all classes and events will resume as scheduled on Friday (February 20). As a precaution, additional law enforcement and Campus Safety personnel will remain present on campus throughout the day.
