A house fire in Oppenheim left one home a total loss and killed multiple cats on Saturday (February 21), though all human occupants escaped safely before firefighters arrived.
According to WNYT, crews from the Oppenheim Fire Department were called to 382 Cline Road at around 11:14 a.m. Upon arrival, they found the house fully engulfed in flames.
All residents had already made it out before firefighters reached the scene, and no injuries to people were reported. However, multiple cats inside the home did not survive.
The structure collapsed within 10 minutes of crews arriving, and the home has been declared a total loss. The speed at which the fire consumed the building left little for firefighters to save.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Authorities have not yet released additional details about the residents or the origin of the blaze.
