Victim Of Schaghticoke Fatal Motorcycle Crash Identified

The victim of a fatal motorcycle crash in Schaghticoke has been identified as 45-year-old Robert Koenig from Johnsonville. The tragic incident occurred on Saturday night (February 28) when Koenig's motorcycle collided with a car on State Route 40. The car, driven by 34-year-old Salman Rahmat of Cohoes, was attempting to turn left when the collision happened.

Koenig was ejected from his motorcycle upon impact and was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported. According to WRGB, State Police conducted standardized field sobriety tests on Rahmat and found no signs of impairment.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and no charges have been filed at this time. The Syracuse.com reports that the crash occurred around 7:40 p.m., with Koenig traveling northbound when he struck the driver's side of Rahmat's Subaru Impreza.

The NEWS10 confirmed that the investigation remains active, and authorities are working to determine the exact cause of the crash.
