Albany is buzzing with excitement as more details emerge about the upcoming St. Patrick's Day Parade on Saturday (March 14). The event, a highlight on the city's calendar, will kick off at 2 p.m. at Lexington and Central Avenue, proceeding to State and Green Streets. This year, the city is collaborating with local businesses for a "Paint the Town Green" promotion, adding extra flair to the celebration.
One of the standout activities is the Four-Leaf Coaster Scavenger Hunt, organized by the Downtown Albany Business Improvement District (BID). The hunt will take place at over 15 participating businesses, where attendees can search for coasters featuring a four-leaf clover design and a QR code. Scanning the code and submitting the unique number on the back will enter participants for a chance to win tickets to a Jim Gaffigan comedy show at MVP Arena. According to Downtown Albany, each submission increases the odds of winning, encouraging exploration of the city's vibrant downtown area.
The parade day will culminate in an official afterparty at Lost and Found Bar and Kitchen on Broadway, starting at 6 p.m. Other activities throughout the day include various specials and extended hours at local bars and restaurants. For a complete list of events, visit albanyevents.org.
Georgette Steffens, Executive Director of the Downtown Albany BID, emphasized the importance of the scavenger hunt in drawing foot traffic and supporting local businesses. "The BID wanted to complement the Albany St. Patrick's Day Parade with an activity that captures the fun of the day while encouraging visitors to explore our Downtown," she said, as reported by NEWS10.
The winner of the scavenger hunt will be announced on St. Patrick's Day (Tuesday, March 17). For those unable to attend in person, NEWS10 will livestream the parade online and on the WTEN+ app.
