A 21-year-old Troy man was arrested Saturday (March 21) after allegedly punching a sheriff’s sergeant during Clover Fest at the MVP Arena in Albany, New York. Deputies say Alexander Thompson was being escorted from the concert for unruly behavior when he became combative and struck the sergeant in the head, according to the Albany County Sheriff’s Office.

The sergeant was injured during the incident, but the extent of the injuries has not been disclosed. Authorities said Thompson continued to resist arrest before deputies were able to detain him. As reported by WNYT, Thompson now faces multiple charges, including second-degree assault, resisting arrest, and obstructing governmental administration.

The incident happened around 8:15 p.m. during the music festival, according to NEWS10 ABC. Thompson was scheduled for arraignment Sunday in Albany City Court.

Authorities have not provided further details about the sergeant’s condition. The case remains under investigation, and Thompson’s next court date will be set following his arraignment.
