A new community outreach center has opened on State Street in Albany as part of a project to reimagine the Interstate 787 corridor. This center serves as a hub for public engagement, allowing residents to review designs, meet the project team, and receive updates on the initiative. The outreach center is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The project, supported by last year's state budget allocation of up to $40 million, aims to improve the I-787 corridor by enhancing access to the Hudson River waterfront, connecting neighborhoods, and addressing infrastructure needs. Governor Kathy Hochul emphasized that the funds will be used to develop an environmental impact statement to guide these improvements. The nine-mile highway, which runs along the Hudson River, provides direct access to the State Capitol, downtown Albany, and the Empire State Plaza.

The Reimagine I-787 Outreach Center is located at 125 State St. Visitors can engage with the project team and provide feedback on the conceptual designs. The initiative reflects a broader effort to enhance urban connectivity and improve the quality of life for Albany residents.
