All lanes of Route 20 in Duanesburg are now open following a crash that occurred on Tuesday (April 7). The accident involved a tractor-trailer and a U-Haul truck near McGuire School Road. The crash happened around 1 p.m., resulting in a significant response from emergency services.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was trapped in his vehicle, requiring an extensive extrication effort that lasted over an hour. He was subsequently transported to Albany Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The two occupants of the U-Haul truck were evaluated at the scene but did not require hospitalization.
The collision caused the downing of utility poles and wires, leading to the closure of Route 20 between Gage Road and Route 395. The road remained closed until late Tuesday evening as crews worked to clear the debris and restore the area.
The Delanson Fire Company, along with Duanesburg Ambulance, the Duanesburg Fire Department, and several other local emergency services, responded to the scene. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and authorities have not yet released further details.
