The Mohawk Hudson Humane Society (MHHS) is currently investigating a severe case of animal abuse after a puppy was discovered in distress outside the Albany Criminal Court building on Morton Avenue early Monday (April 6). The puppy, found at approximately 5:30 a.m., was transported to the MHHS shelter in Menands where it is receiving treatment for dehydration and severe wounds extending to the bone.

As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the case. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact either the MHHS or Albany police. The humane society is committed to finding those responsible for this act of cruelty.

In a related case, another dog named Lavender was found abandoned in Schenectady, suffering from severe facial wounds and a missing ear. According to the Times Union, a 31-year-old man has been charged with a misdemeanor for allegedly abandoning Lavender. The dog is receiving care at MHHS, where staff are dedicated to her recovery.

The MHHS is also seeking donations to support the care of abused animals like Lavender. CBS6 Albany reports that the community is encouraged to contribute to the Animal Cruelty Fund to aid in her recovery and fight for justice.

The investigation into both cases is ongoing, and the MHHS is asking the public to stand with them in seeking justice for these animals. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Schenectady Police Department's Detective Division.
