Raising Cane's, a popular fast food chain known for its chicken fingers and Cane's Sauce, is planning to open its first location in the Capital Region at the site of the former Ninety Nine Restaurant and Pub on Wolf Road in Colonie. The proposal will be discussed at the Colonie Planning Board meeting on Tuesday (April 14).
The proposed project involves constructing a 3,500-square-foot restaurant with a two-lane drive-thru, improved parking, and a patio for outdoor seating. The restaurant plans to operate from 10 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and until 3:30 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Approximately 13 employees would work each shift.
The existing building, which has been vacant for nearly two years, will be demolished to make way for the new establishment. The property is currently owned by 107 Wolf Road, LLC. Raising Cane's has nearly 1,000 locations nationwide, including 14 in New York, but none in the Capital Region.
The chain's expansion into Colonie is part of a broader strategy to grow in upstate New York, with additional locations proposed in DeWitt, Henrietta, and Amherst. The company is represented by Bohler Engineering in this project.
The Colonie Planning Board meeting will take place at 347 Old Niskayuna Road, where the proposal will be reviewed. If approved, this location will be one of the first Raising Cane's restaurants in New York outside of New York City.
