A water main break has resulted in the closure of all lanes on Guilderland Avenue in Rotterdam. The break occurred at the intersection of Guilderland and Lawndale Avenues, leaving several hundred residents without water. Rotterdam Town Supervisor John Polimeni confirmed that repair crews are on-site and are expected to work throughout the day to resolve the issue.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes while repairs are underway. The Rotterdam Police Department has issued a boil water advisory for affected areas, urging residents to boil tap water for at least one minute before consumption to prevent potential health risks from harmful bacteria.
The Schenectady County Department of Environmental Health anticipates that the boil water order will remain in effect for a few days until the water system is deemed safe. For further information, residents can contact the Town of Rotterdam or Schenectady County Public Health Services.
