More than a dozen dogs were rescued from a home in Hebron during an eviction process, revealing a suspected case of animal cruelty. According to the Susquehanna SPCA, many of the dogs showed signs of malnutrition and burns. The Washington County Sheriff's Office discovered the dogs, described as hound-like, and contacted the Susquehanna SPCA for assistance due to the county's lack of an animal shelter.

The Susquehanna SPCA took in nine of the dogs, while the remaining animals were placed with individuals in Washington County. Stacie Haynes, Executive Director of the SPCA, noted that the dogs were living in "deplorable" conditions and required immediate medical care. Veterinary reports will be shared with the Washington County Sheriff's Office to aid in their investigation.

To accommodate the influx of animals, the SPCA is offering $25 off adoptions through Saturday (April 25). Community members are encouraged to consider fostering or donating to support the ongoing care of these animals. The organization anticipates taking in more dogs later this week.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office is continuing its investigation into the case, and further details are awaited.
