A winter storm warning is in effect for the greater Capital Region, as well as Northern New York and Vermont for Sunday morning into Monday evening.
The National Weather Service says heavy snow could fall with accumulations of more than 7 inches possible.
Wind gusts are also expected to increase Sunday night through Monday, resulting in blowing and drifting snow.
This warning not only helps bring attention to the weather, but to drivers as well, from a legal standpoint.
A new state bill calls for fines for drivers who do not clear snow off their cars before hitting the road.
State Senator Tony Avella proposed the bill, that would require people to make reasonable efforts to remove snow and ice from their vehicles before driving on public roadways.
A violation would cost $75, but if the violation results in injury or damage, the violation could cost between $200 and $1250.
The bill is still in its early stages.
However, both neighboring states Connecticut and New Jersey currently have similar laws in place.
