Thursday was the grand opening for the area's first CarMax location.
The large used car lot has been in development for several years at the site of the former Kmart at Routes 5 and 155 in Colonie.
Assistant General Manager Eric Eshelman says part of the retailer's appeal is the wide range of vehicles it offers.
"We have over 200 vehicles on our lot, but it's a small sample of our total inventory. Everything is available on carmax.com for customer's viewing, and we have over 60,000 vehicles on the line."
In addition to selling cars, CarMax also buys vehicles without the obligation of the seller making a subsequent purchase.
The Colonie CarMax is open Monday-Friday from 11 AM-8 PM and Saturday from 9 AM-7 PM.
