Frankly, I was surprised Fox kicked Bill O'Reilly to the curb. For the purposes of this discussion, let's leave out what he did or didn't do. I thought Fox would stand behind him for a number of reasons: He was their biggest show. Many of his advertisers probably would have come back eventually. He wasn't actually convicted of anything. And, if any organization could withstand a firestorm of criticism from the left (and elsewhere), it's Fox News Channel.
Tracy Villaume and I (Tracy was in for Kelly today) talked about the O'Reilly dismissal and a very dangerous trend on college campuses across the country. Students are routinely refusing, by violent and non-violent means, to allow people with whom they disagree, the right to speak. I can't think of anything LESS American than stifling free speech. - Chuck
