Jury Finds Alex West Guilty of Manslaughter for Fatal Accident on Lake George

A jury has found 25-year-old Alex West guilty in eight out of the 12 charges against him.

West was piloting a boat on Lake George last Summer that crashed into another boat, killing 8-year-old Charlotte McCue of California.

West was found Guilty of:

  • 2nd degree Manslaughter
  • 2nd degree Assault
  • Criminally negligent homicide
  • Two counts of leaving the scene of an accident without reporting
  • Boating while ability impaired by alcohol
  • Reckless operation of a vessel
  • Criminal possession of a controlled substance (cocaine)

West was found not guilty of:

  • 2nd degree vehicular manslaughter
  • 1st degree vehicular assault
  • 2nd degree vehicular assault
  • Boating while ability impaired by drugs

West was not granted bail and was led out of court in handcuffs. He could now face 7 1/3 to 22 years in prison. He'll be sentenced on June 5.
