The State Police are putting out notice about a possible ruse to access victim’s homes.
Troopers in Brunswick have received at least one report of an unknown person calling a home in Northern Rensselaer County who identifies himself as a member of National Grid. The call was to request access to the property to perform service. Troopers say if you are contacted by a person claiming to be a contractor from National Grid, please call your National Grid customer service representative to determine if a service is scheduled.
All National Grid contractors carry proper identification. If an unknown person comes to your home requesting to be let inside, call 911.
